Elizabeth Bennet... will you marry me?

Oh yeah... that's right... I am ALREADY married. *snap!*

Sydney is SO fortunate that she snagged me before I saw Pride & Prejudice... or I would have been fighting with Mr. Darcy for Elizabeth Bennet's hand. Dark hair, confidence, humor AND intellect... nothing short of beautiful. I told Sydney this after the movie and she was jealous... I could tell. Sydney's response was that "she probably wouldn't pick up my socks and t-shirts." My response was, "I think they HAD to do that back then." Needless to say that I got smacked acrossed the chest... twice!

I will say that Saturday night was a great night as Sydney and I lazed on the couch together and watched Pride and Prejudice. I probably wouldn't have given the movie a chance if it wasn't for Jcol. But, thanks to her, I am glad that I took the time to watch it. Deep down inside, I am a romantic... behind this rough exterior and cantankerous personality is a big heart. To answer your question Eddie... I didn't cry... as a matter of fact, after watching the movie I was trying to figure out at which point in the movie someone would cry. Can't figure it out... must have to be a girl to answer that question.

And Katie and Jcol... Brooding Yumminess? Yeah... I still don't get that either.

Good movie though. I give it a 9 out of 10. Any movie that is so good that it causes you to get smacked twice can't score a perfect 10... had I been forced to sleep on the couch, I would have had to give it an 8.

now that you've watched the warm-up flic, you need to invest the five hours in the traditional A&E version, which tells the whole story

I never cried in it either, not sure where you would cry

Brooding Yumminess - you're a boy so you wouldn't understand, but my sistas can back me up on that

And I also contend with your rating system when it is based partially on your own actions and the consequences of those actions, no fair bumping the movie a point because you make smack-inducing comments

I'm in Sydney's corner on this one Mr. Ben

Sydney told me that you would step up and defend her.

I stand by my rating system.

Yea! Yea! *shouts with glee*

Oh how funny, I never even thought of what a fella would think of Elizabeth, I only hear of Darcy this, Darcy that. But the girl does have spunk, beauty, wit, and wisdom, so I'm sure she's quite a catch.

So glad you watched it Ben McMinn! I even mentioned this to K-T on Sat, that I was hoping you watched it. ( I watched it for the third time on Fri. night)

Thank you for taking my advice and trusting me on it. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

Oh, and I glistened tears at the end just because it was so very sweet that he was "incandescently happy" enough to call her Mrs. Darcy. I can't help it. I have heard of others crying when Mr. Bennett approves of her marrying Darcy, because they really do have a father/daughter relationship. Sweetness.

Mr. Darcy IS brooding yumminess. Don't question it.

Thanks for making my day, Ben McMinn!

Oh, and on the smacking thing: honesty (at least full and complete honesty) is NOT always the best policy, Ben McMinn.

Some things are better left unsaid.

For your body's sake.

He he!

I am not sure why God made me the way he did, but when I see an act of kindness, even on a commercial, I can get teary eyed. I think deep down it touches me to see someone that is unselfish - mostly because it is such a rarity. In our day-to-day lives it is so rare to see anyone reach out and do something that is self-sacrificing - like stopping to help someone change a tire, or to carry something heavy for an elderly person. When you do see it, it is touching.

And then there is love. Something that is so wonderful, something that you fully understand, something that you want for yourself, but have yet to experience. When you see that love, that thing that you always wanted bestowed upon someone else, or acquired by someone else - that is touching.

You probably don't understand it Ben because you aren't 30 and single and by the time you were my age you had 14 kids.

The great thing about not having something for so long is that when you finally do get it, you appreciate it so much more. That is something I can delight it. That is why my iPod Beyonce is so special - I waited for over 3 years for her, and she was well worth the wait.

On a totally separete note... I need the template I designed for you. Where is it and where are the graphics? Do you still have them? I want to add it to my portfolio as that design took me about 20 hours to create and is still one of my most out-of-the-box creations.

Ironically, I too watched P&P this weekend. I convinced my boyfriend that we needed to watch it and not King Kong... he too admitted that it was a great flick!

It's a must. And also very cool to think about all of the other movies that use P&P to create their basic story line. (Bridget Jones being one of my all time favs!)

and Aims did you know that the author who wrote BJD not only named her main character after Mr. Darcy but fashioned his entire character after him

ahahaha, I'm sad really

I think you need to rethink your rating system Ben. You got the smack because you were rude to your wife. The movie did not jump out and cause the rudeness. It came out of your mouth.
I stand behind Syd and think you need to revamp the ratings!
Oh and PS...if you would have been forced to sleep on the couch she would have had good cause!

ben: i think it's fun that you watched it AND liked it. was popcorn involved? popcorn always makes any movie better.

or, almost any movie.

next step: read the book! and then watch the movie again! and then you'll get more of the inside humor.

Thank you for sharing... "...they had to do that back then..." Now I know my husband isn't the only man in the world who'd say something to warrant a couple of smacks across the chest! ;)

Loved the book, loved the movie!!
I'm a total Jane Austen fan, I think Persuasion is the only book I haven't read (still don't know why).
Movie: awesome, even if I didn't like the fact they changed some crucial events, but anyway Mr. Darcy totally satisfied my expectations (I was a little worried to see another Mr. Darcy, not Colin Firth (even if I didn't see the A&E version, but he IS the real Mr. Darcy, no doubt about it)).
