Weathering the storm...

Storm clouds were up ahead... he could see them. As he drove, Frank played on the radio in a weak attempt to temper the mood... it wasn't working. A few sprinkles hit the windshield leaving small circular kaleidoscopes here and there, distorting his perspective even further as he looked through them. Aimlessly, he continued to drive while managing to stay on the road... where the road lead was anybody’s guess... but the key thing was that he was driving... still behind the wheel. He continued to drive, and the rain began falling at a quickening pace. He reached for the switch to bring the wipers to life... the worn blades began to clear the water from every where but the area directly in his line of sight. One of the blades was torn, half of it dragging uselessly behind. He thought, “Should have been more prepared.” Fortunately, he could still see the road and the blurred headlights coming at him well enough to stay on his side of the road. As the rain unnoticeably began to lighten, his thoughts consumed him... He wondered where he was going and what was around the bend... and for that matter, whether he would eventually get where he was going.

E-E-RT, E-E-RT, E-E-RT, E-E-RT, E-E-RT...

The sound of the broken wipers on a dry windshield brought him back to reality. Once again, he had weathered the storm... and he was confident that he would weather the dark clouds ahead as well.

To his right was a rainbow. Thank God for rainbows and the glimmer of hope they bring.

Ever felt like this at times? Been in funk lately, largely because of work... but, I am sure I will weather the storm. It's just no fun driving through it.
