It is time to call a spade a spade.

Internet... I am fat. At a towering height of 5'4" and weighing 167 pounds... I am sure that I am what the American Medical Association would deem as "obese."

So I decided to do something about it. I joined the health club and I am going to lose weight. I figure that my idea weight is about 140 - 145 lbs... When I was younger, I was running about 14-18 miles a day... I graduated high school at a hefty 117 lbs. I don't want be there... I just don't want to be unhealthy... and right now I feel unhealthy.

So I am doing something about it. I am done "thinking about it." I am done saying I should work out but not doing anything about it.

Before, I wasn't ready. Now I am. And I am determined.

So in short... I have decided to change.

I am all about change.

Excellent! I have this state of mind as well. It is difficult, however once you are in the routine of working out, it gets easier! I want to lose 40 lbs... it seems so far away, but I'm taking it one day at a time. :)

You can do it!! :) hey, WE CAN DO IT!

How ironic. I've been thinking the same thing.

About me. Not you.

So! Let us band together for the sake of shedding these ill-gotten pounds!

It's a never ending battle! Ugh! I was doing great, down 30 lbs, and then Christmas came. I really want to lose another 20, but am having a heck of a time.

You're really 5'4?? You look taller. I think my daughter C has caught up to you! ;)

It's not late... only 8:30pm - just enough time to fulfill my Big Brother addiction! You know, they have it streaming 24 hours a day here in the UK. Yes, I can sit in front of a TV for 5 hours and watch people sleep. Amazing, right?

ha ha, i'm so not an amazon (just average height for a man), but I am taller than Ben but I weigh less (wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee you don't know how good that feels to say that - sorry ben but I'm sure you have more muscle than me anyway)

Ugh I need to start working out, i need some mountains to go hiking in, oh wait i live in texas, maybe I can just wander across the prairie land behind my house

Regular exercise can be really helpful in losing weight. There's been times in my life that I did so much biking that I ate lots more and still lost weight. But then at those times I was usually biking twenty to forty miles a day four or five days a week.

When I do less exercise, I just try to keep all snacks either out of sight or not in the house to begin with and that helps me.

You can do it! Men have a way of dropping the weight so much faster than women...makes me sick. It took me 2 years to lose over 60 lbs, but if I can do that, you can certainly lose a few...just don't give up!

My husband is also trying to lose some lbs. Having a pregnant wife who insists on chocolate cake at 10 p.m. doesn't really help him...but in 4 months I'll be joining him in the weight loss challenge so I don't feel TOO guilty.

*sigh* 167 sounds great to me... but then I'm 6'. I was that when I graduated HS.

Good luck with your exercise and eating. I'd hate to start eating healthy over the holiday weekend!
